Splurge
These boots were made for walking...So I call myself getting ready for winter every year - I hate not being prepared clothing wise. The two main things on my wish list for this winter were a nice black wool jacket and good looking pair of chocolate brown boots, My one dilemma with this wish list is I really don’thave “nice black wool jacket and good looking pair of chocolate brown boots” money. I could maybe manage one of the two but...I wanted them both! This summer I was a regular at Beacons Closet in Park Slope - can’t even begin to tell you how many good things I got so...why not hit them up for winter time right? I’ve been in a few times now (even went to the one in Union Square - wha??? LOVE) and can’t say that I’ve come out of the store with either of the items on my wish list but...Hey, don’t judge!
1. Belle Sigerson Morrison Boot - So whats so funny about these babies is I brought a pair of these years ago - a bootie version of the same boot. I loved them but they they were a lil hard to walk in (for me at least). But then the taller version walked into my life and...YES!!! I can totally walk in them and...how freaking cute/sexy are they. No idea how much they cost in real life - tried to look it up but couldn’t find them but who cares cause $25.95 is like a gift from the heavens as far as I’m concerned.
2. Sanita Clog Boot - I just knew when I walked into the Union Sq Bacons Closet that my black wool jacket and chocolate brown boots were there. Waiting for me to sweep them up and take them to their new home but...nah! This trip was not vain though - 2 sweater, 1 denim top and then...my new clog boots (which happen to go well with one of the sweaters and the denim top). Saw these, tried them on and instantaneously I knew what I would wear with them. I even saw future outfits in my head. When something that powerful takes place...what are you supposed to do? Buy the $25.95 pair of boots was all I could come up with so...I was able to find these online - they were originally $185 (Anthropologie). SCORE!!!
3. Banana Republic Boots - I blame my friends Soph and Lillian for this purchase. Headed to dinner one night and the restaurant my friends chose just so happened to be right across the street from the Beacons Closet in Park Slope. How could I not walk in? Didn’t seem right to walk right by it. So...I did the right thing and walked in - at least it seemed right to me. This trip was the closest that I’ve gotten thus far to getting the items on my wish list but the 2 black wool jackets I found didn’t fit and the BEAUTIFUL pair of chocolate brown Frye boots were a size 6.5 (the things I contemplated over these boots were absolutely ridiculous - can’t even mention them). As I approached the back of the store feeling defeated I spotted not 1 but 2 pairs of boots. I tried them both on. They both fit but they weren’t what I came for so I figured just get one pair - that’s it. I enlisted the help of one of the sales associates to help me chose which pair should go home with me. She was so good! Decided on these black bad boys but, then I flipped both the boots over to check out the price and they were both $16.95 - shut the shit up! You know what happened right? Ugghhhh! But they’re cute right??? C’mon! Couldn’t find these ones online either but who cares. All you need to know is they were $16.95!
