The best investment you can make is in yourself - point blank! I read an article online a while back “10 Life Changing Ways to Invest in Yourself” in the article Grant Hensel of Vibrant list 10 self-improvement challenges . I love a challenge!!! Why? Because I am always trying to better myself and learn new things that will hopefully move me forward. Here are a few of the challenges that I really resonated with and have incoporated into my life. I dare you to challenge yourself!!!
Discover your Strengths - The most successful people in the world have discovered the things they are best at and build their working lives around those strengths.
Set Weekly Goals and review progress - Write down what you would like to accomplish for the week and at the end of the week review your progress. *I do this every Sunday. The writer suggested picking one main goal and possibly picking two secondary goals if you are feeling ambitious but I write out a list of 10 or so things - "my most important goal for the week" is what I write at the top of my list (I got this from my Creative Visualization workbook) . Once I have accomplished it I cross it out and then write “VICTORY” right by it - I am always proud of my accomplishments.
Get a Mentor - Make a list of everyone you know who has a lot of experience in your line of business. If you don’t know anyone who meets this criterion, broaden the search to people you know who were very successful in another field or with whom you particularly resonate and contact them.
Build your Personal Brand - What does your online presence look like? What happens when someone Google’s your name? *I am constantly working on this. Out of it came my website last year, started my blog, finally got on Instagram, finally posted on Instagram, finally got a business card and...still going at it. Two things I constantly have to remind myself is to one be patient with myself and two not to compare myself with others.
Be Thankful - Take five minutes each day to list three things you’re thankful for trains your mind to look for the positive. Amazingly, maintaining a positive mindset makes you more productive and effective in your work (as well as happier in general!). *This was already something I did on a daily basis - an attitude of gratitude.
Find your Way - Purpose is a powerful thing. It gets you up in the morning and keeps you awake at night. Anyone who accomplished anything great was driven by a strong, deeply-held belief of what is wrong with the world and how it can be made right. Take an hour today to sit quietly by yourself and reflect on what you care about most deeply.
